I worked for 46 years as a Research Chemist firstly with Petrochemicals and latterly with Ion Exchange Resins. In 1994 as a change from science I decided to take up painting as a hobby. I had done a lot of drawing on and off for many years but had never really tried painting. I joined an evening class in the local comprehensive school and for the next couple of years I learnt to paint in watercolours and oil. I never really “got into” watercolours but I enjoyed oils.
However in 1996 I became involved with the founding of the Silures Art Group and found my interest growing in pastels. Most of my work these days is in the medium of pastels though I am still experimenting with acrylics. My subject is mainly landscapes, but I do also enjoy still life and portraits.
