I have lived most of my life in the Vale of Glamorgan.
After taking early retirement from primary school teaching, I rediscovered my love of textiles.
A friend in the village taught me to spin, and I tried weaving, and then discovered felt making which has become a passion.
I love the fact that you are never really in complete control when you make felt, there’s always an element of unpredictability

All my felt starts with the finest Merino fibres to which silk fibres, fine silk and cotton fabrics and a variety of yarns are added for decoration..
I add hand and machine stitching and print to the felt to achieve a variety of effects. I also use Shibori dying using natural and synthetic dyes.
Felt is very versatile so I make pictures and wall hangings, vessels, clothing and accessories like bags, scarves, gloves and jewellery.
Trees intrigue me how they seem to change with the seasons. Also the distinctive coastline, particularly Dunraven Bay, which is another source. I am fascinated by the amazing rock formations there and the ever changing sea.
Visits abroad also influence my work. I was lucky enough in 2009 to spend a short time in central Finland with Finnish feltmakers. The frozen lakes and wonderful forests of birch trees with a delicate icing of soft snow had a huge impact on me.
